Kenya rounds up zebras for starving lions

Wildlife officials in Kenya are rounding up thousands of zebras and ferrying them to a park in the country's south to feed starving lions and hyenas. This is an action to prevent conflict with the animals and humans. The animals will be hauled from four different locations to restock a park that had lost about 80 percent of its plant eating animals. This occured because of a drought that, the worst in 26 years. There is only 2,000 lions left nation wide. About 4,000 zebras are left and it will take 1.4 million to ship them out at all.

This is a good thing, and is essential to the survival of the lions. Then again, they need tourism money from people who want to see the lions.

Gates: Pentagon preparing repeal of 'don't ask, don't tell' policy

Author: Barbara
Congress

President Obama has called for a repeal for the policy, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." The one that regards gay and lesbian members in service. The Pentagon has taken the first steps. Even Joint Cheif of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen has also stated, "allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in military would be the right thing to do." But the untimatly decision on whether to repeal the policy rests on Congress' hands.

I feel as if they should be more open about this kind of things. They need to know, or risk losing many militay personel.

Radar problems foil missile defense test

Technology

A long-range missile missed its target sunday because of radar problems during a U.S. missile defense test. The missile was launched from an Army test site in the Marshall islands at 7:40. Then six minutes later, a second misslie was launched from an Air Force Base in california to find the first one and destroy it. Though both missiles flew successfully, for some reason, they missed each other. The failure was caused because problems in the sea-based X-band radar. The radar sytem sits on top of a floating oil platfrom, and feeds information about incoming missiles. Officials will investigate the cause of the redar problems.

I believe this should be something people should be a bit worried about, but not petrified by it. Its more then likely a minor problem that they could fix fairly easily. Then again, if this is to continue, we could be very vulnorable to missle strike attacks.

Company offers to stop putting biblical references on military scopes

Business

Trijicon Inc, a manufacturer company has been inscribing Bible references on rifle scopes used by the U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now thought, they have announced to stop writing the references on military products. The references have been a big concern to the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. Both of wich have military contracts with the company. It is said that the U.S. troops are much more sensitive about this kind of thing. The Muslim Public Affairs Council said the references, "feed into the violent extremists' narrative that the ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are a 'crusade against Islam.' " The company has offered to voluntarily stop putting references to scripture on all products manufactured for the military. They have offered to provide free of charge 100 modification kits to enable the removal of the references that are already on products.

For me, I feel they probably shouldn't have scripture on them. Some soilders might not be christian, and might feel offended by the readings. So in a way, they should remove them.
